SUCCESS STORIES
You have to make films that have gone to prestigious film festivals to really get the notice. Making Blood and Glory through WIM and having it premiere at Tribeca and be in official selection at Oscar qualifying Indy Shorts and HollyShorts have made a difference. The next project I direct, I’ll be able to pool together more resources because now those accolades are credited to the film we made.
I’m feeling very encouraged by the Illumination training workshop and Women In Media as an organization.

Women in Media took the pandemic as an opportunity to up its game
and create more events, booking presenters who are not only tip-top in the field, but willing to provide critical insights and unprecedented access to WIM members.
I really feel like WIM is a place for me!!
Out of many organizations that support female minority in the entertainment industry WIM is the one that really does things in the right way. It gathers the right kind of professionals, helps forming successful relationships among them and creates actual work opportunities for many women!
The feeling of professional support is really valuable.
I would definitely recommend WIM for the full calendar of interesting industry events, networking, the hire these women focalizing which is excellent, for all the hard work Tema and her staff put in to promoting our visibility and hirability as female filmmakers, and definitely for the opportunity to take part in training courses such as this (DaVinci Resolve 15).

So often in our industry, it’s “who you know” that gets you opportunities, and Women in Media helps you grow a solid network of professionals that are interested in improving the gender gap in media production. It also provides opportunities to enter into festivals and network with some of the greatest.
